A body in movement

Humans are not passive creatures. We like to run around, jump, do sports and be mobile. We move on a daily basis, doing chores, getting from place to place and simply having fun. So what happens to our bodies when we move? A body in movement is exposed to a lot of change in contrast to its calm state. Let’s take a look at what exactly happens to us when we are in motion.

Changes in our moving bodies

When we move, our breathing gets heavier. We need to inhale more often and we do it much faster than normal. Our cells need more oxygen in this stage, so our body needs to guarantee that. A similar thing happens to our heartbeat. Our heart starts beating much faster and we can often feel it being stronger. The heart works harder to pump blood all over the body, transporting the inhaled oxygen to the cells, which need more of it in this active state. Certainly, more muscles get engaged as well. We are using some of our muscles even if we are just lying down. However, when in movement, various other groups of muscles are used. Different muscles are tensed when we are playing football or basketball than when we are going canyoning (Bovec, Slovenija) or Soca river (Slovenia) kayaking. This is why often our muscles get sore the first time we do a certain activity. There is another thing that occurs in our bodies when we engage in extreme sports such as canyoning (Bovec, Slovenija) or Soca river (Slovenia) kayaking. In such cases, we experience the release of adrenaline. During canyoning (Bovec, Slovenija) or Soca river (Slovenia) kayaking or other similar activities, the hormone puts you in survival mode, enabling you to feel more energetic and alive.
